According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Yamada Saturday morning.

At 22:33 UTC (08:33 local time), the region was shaken by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 29 km, with its epicenter about 116 km east of Yamada. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.0 event, but later upgraded it to 5.1.
