CHAMPERICO, Retalhuleu Department — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Champerico Wednesday morning.

The tremor struck the area at 10:16 UTC (04:16 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter situated about 59 km south-southwest of Champerico.
