COOS COUNTY, OR — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake shook near Bandon Saturday afternoon.
A tremor struck the region at 10:12 p.m. (2:12 p.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located roughly 144 miles west of Bandon and occurred at a depth of 6 miles. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later downgraded it to 5.1.

Quakes last week
Last week, five earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or greater have been recorded in the area. The biggest, a 5.9 magnitude quake, jolted the same region one days earlier.
