According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake rattled close to Néa Stíra on Monday around midnight.

At 21:27 UTC (00:27 local time), the region was struck by a tremor. The earthquake shook at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 11 km northwest of Néa Stíra. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.

Light to moderate shaking was registered, and people in several cities — such as Drépanon, Pásion, Loutrákion, Ándros and Aíyina — reported feeling the earthquake, according to the USGS DYFI report.
