A 5.0 magnitude quake was detected near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor struck the region at 22:10 UTC (09:10 local time). The epicenter was located roughly 167 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later downgraded to 5.0.
