ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK — Tuesday night, a 5.0 magnitude quake was registered close to Sand Point, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
At 8:03 a.m. (9:03 p.m. local time), the region was hit by a tremor. The earthquake shook at a depth of 19 miles, with its epicenter approximately 64 miles south-southeast of Sand Point. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
