Update: Earthquake hits region close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia on July 30 – 5.3 magnitude detected

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.3 magnitude quake jolted near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky around midday Wednesday.

The tremor shook at 00:51 UTC (11:51 local time), with its epicenter situated about 121 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and a depth of 35 km.
