Update: Seismic activity on Aug. 14 – 5.7 magnitude earthquake near Neiafu, Tonga detected

NEIAFU, Vava’u — Thursday afternoon, a 5.7 magnitude quake was registered near Neiafu, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor hit the region at 04:38 UTC (17:38 local time). The epicenter was situated approximately 208 km east-northeast of Neiafu, at a depth of 101 km.
