Update: Seismic activity on Aug. 13 – 5.2 magnitude earthquake near Vilyuchinsk, Russia recorded

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake jolted close to Vilyuchinsk Wednesday night.

The tremor shook at 11:40 UTC (22:40 local time), with its epicenter situated about 196 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk and a depth of 35 km.

Tremors past week

Over the last week, there have been 37 tremors of magnitude 2.5 or higher centered nearby. The largest, measuring 5.2, occurred in the same region six days earlier.
