System name: Dexter
The post-tropical cyclone system was last addressed in a final advisory by the National Hurricane Center at 10 a.m. Thursday. Dexter found new strength and had evolved from a tropical storm into a post-tropical cyclone with sustained winds of 60 mph. Post Tropical Cyclone Dexter is in the Atlantic Ocean, 390 miles south-southeast of Cape Race Newfoundland. The system, with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph, is moving to the east-northeast at 17 mph.
“Dexter is expected to continue strengthening as an extratropical low through early Friday”, according to analysts. They also said “The cyclone is forecast to weaken beginning late Friday and Saturday.”
