Update: Earthquake of 5.2 magnitude registered near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia on July 20

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.2 magnitude quake jolted near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Sunday afternoon.

The tremor struck at 07:02 UTC (18:02 local time), with its epicenter situated approximately 147 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and a depth of 10 km.

Tremors last week

During the past week, there have been four tremors of magnitude 6.1 or above centered nearby, three of them larger than magnitude 7. The largest, measuring 7.5, occurred in the same region prior to this quake.
