A 5.2 magnitude quake was recorded near South Sandwich Islands region Wednesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor jolted the area at 12:52 UTC (10:52 local time). It occurred at a depth of 99 km with the epicenter situated near South Sandwich Islands region.
