Update: Earthquake measuring 5.2 shakes area near Kuril’sk, Russia on July 30

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake occurred close to Kuril’sk Wednesday afternoon.

The tremor, which jolted the region at 07:23 UTC (17:23 local time), was centered about 123 km southeast of Kuril’sk. It occurred at a depth of 80 km.
