Earthquake of magnitude 5.0 recorded close to Wainui, New Zealand on July 25

AUCKLAND, Auckland — Friday afternoon, a 5.0 magnitude quake was detected near Wainui, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted the area at 04:17 UTC (16:17 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter located about 57 km northeast of Wainui.
