Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake registered close to Tatsugō, Japan on July 11

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake hit close to Tatsugō Friday afternoon.

It was reported that a tremor shook the region at 07:21 UTC (16:21 local time). The epicenter was located about 100 km north-northwest of Tatsugō, at a depth of 10 km.

Quakes last week

During the past week, 20 tremors with a magnitude 2.5 or higher have been detected in the area. The strongest, a 5.4 magnitude quake, struck the same region five days earlier.
