A 5.1 magnitude quake was registered near Miyakojima Friday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the region at 07:09 UTC (15:09 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter situated roughly 100 km southeast of Miyakojima.
