5.4 magnitude earthquake reported near Qarnābād, Iran on July 19

ALIABAD, Golestan Province—Saturday morning, a 5.4 magnitude quake was recorded near Qarnābād, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the area at 21:37 UTC (01:07 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter situated roughly 31 km east of Qarnābād.

Qarnābād hit twice last week

During the past week, two tremors exceeding magnitude 2.5 have been registered in the same region. Both tremors measured 4.6 in magnitude, with one rattling one days ago and the other on July 15.
