Update: 5.2 magnitude earthquake hits near Sand Point, AK on July 16

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—A 5.2 magnitude quake was detected near Sand Point on Wednesday around midday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor jolted the area at 10:10 p.m. (11:10 a.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located about 66 miles south-southeast of Sand Point and occurred at a depth of 14 miles.
