Update: Earthquake measuring 5.2 jolts area close to Sand Point, AK on July 16

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—A 5.2 magnitude quake was detected close to Sand Point around midday Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor shook the region at 10:10 p.m. (11:10 a.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 66 miles south-southeast of Sand Point and occurred at a depth of 14 miles.
