Update: Earthquake measuring 5.7 hits area near Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on June 24

HIGÜEY, La Altagracia Province — A 5.7 magnitude quake was detected near Punta Cana Tuesday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck the region at 02:45 UTC (21:45 local time). It occurred at a depth of 68 km with the epicenter located approximately 77 km north-northeast of Punta Cana.
