Update: April 4 – 5.6 magnitude earthquake recorded near Bitung, Indonesia

A 5.6 magnitude quake struck close to Bitung on Saturday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor shook the area at 01:35 UTC (10:35 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was about 112 km east-southeast of Bitung and occurred at a depth of 42 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.9 event, but later downgraded it to 5.6.
