EMILIANO ZAPATA, Mor. — A 5.7 magnitude quake was detected close to Emiliano Zapata Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 10:16 UTC (03:16 local time), the region was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter roughly 185 km south-southwest of Emiliano Zapata. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.8 event, but later downgraded it to 5.7.
