Update: 5.2 magnitude earthquake recorded near Bobon, Philippines on June 18

A 5.2 magnitude quake occurred near Bobon on Thursday around midnight, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

At 16:33 UTC (00:33 local time), a tremor struck the region at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 67 km southeast of Bobon. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.3 but later downgraded to 5.2.

Last week’s quakes

In the past week, there have been two tremors greater than magnitude 2.5 centered nearby. The larger one was a 6.2 earthquake that was registered close to Pondaguitan on Jun. 15. The other, of magnitude 4.7, was felt near Bobon on Jun. 18.
