Update: Earthquake jolts region near Drake Passage on Oct. 16 – 5.2 magnitude reported

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake occurred close to Drake Passage Thursday night.

The tremor shook at 02:45 UTC (22:45 local time), with its epicenter located of Drake Passage and a depth of 10 km.

Tremors past week

Five tremors with a magnitude 2.5 or higher have been registered in the area over the last week. The strongest, a 5.7 magnitude quake, struck the same region six days earlier.
