Update: Earthquake measuring 5.2 hits area near South Sandwich Islands region on Aug. 23

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake struck close to South Sandwich Islands region Saturday morning.

The tremor, which jolted the region at 12:58 UTC (10:58 local time), was centered of South Sandwich Islands region. It occurred at a depth of 76 km.
