Update: Seismic activity on Dec. 2 – 5.2 magnitude earthquake close to central Mid-Atlantic Ridge reported

Tuesday morning, a 5.2 magnitude quake was registered near central Mid-Atlantic Ridge, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 07:34 UTC (04:34 local time), the region was struck by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter of central Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later upgraded it to 5.2.

Past week’s tremor

Last week, one more magnitude 4.6 earthquake was recorded in the area, with the event also occurring near central Mid-Atlantic Ridge, prior to this quake.
