Update: Earthquake measuring 5.1 jolts area close to Honchō, Japan on Aug. 18

KAYABE DISTRICT, Hokkaido — A 5.1 magnitude quake was registered near Honchō Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor struck the region at 22:19 UTC (07:19 local time). The epicenter was situated approximately 20 km northwest of Honchō, at a depth of 128 km.
