Update: Seismic activity on Jan. 18 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake close to Tondano, Indonesia reported

Around midday Sunday, a 5.0 magnitude quake was registered close to Tondano, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which struck the area at 04:16 UTC (12:16 local time), was centered about 89 km south-southeast of Tondano. It occurred at a depth of 63 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
