Update: Aug. 14 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake recorded near Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Severo-Kuril’sk Thursday morning.

The tremor struck at 21:52 UTC (07:52 local time), with its epicenter located approximately 98 km south of Severo-Kuril’sk and a depth of 64 km.
