Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake registered near Mohr, Iran on July 28

ASALUYEH, Bushehr Province — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Mohr Monday morning.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 03:54 UTC (07:24 local time), was centered roughly 24 km west-southwest of Mohr. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Mohr region shaken by two tremors over the week

During the past week, the area has experienced two tremors exceeding magnitude 2.5, both centered in the same region. The larger, a 4.9 magnitude event, was detected two days earlier, while the other, at magnitude 4.2, rattled on July 27.
